Resumo
Na área de atuação em "Biogeoquímica do Carbono nas Áreas Alagadas e Mudanças Globais", desenvolvo temáticas transdisciplinares sobre os fatores controladores da liberação e fixação de gases estufa (CO2 e CH4) nos ecossistemas aquáticos interiores e oceânicos. Os processos biogeoquímicos são abordados a partir de uma abordagem integrada entre experimentos, monitoramentos e compilações de dados em um amplo gradiente de ecossistemas de diferentes latitudes, desde lagos, alagadiços ou estuários ao mar aberto. A linha de interface entre Ecologia dos Ecossistemas, Geografia Física na escala de bacia de drenagem e Biogeoquímica Ambiental pretende um melhor entendimento das principais vias de ciclagem da matéria orgânica (produção, decomposição e acumulação de Carbono), as quais determinam os fluxos de gases estufa das áreas alagadas à atmosfera. Ferramentas de estudo incluem análises químicas, datações, determinações biológicas, levantamentos geofísicos e mapeamentos por geoprocessamento.
